How much does fireplace repair cost in Dallas–Fort Worth?
Gas fireplace inspection and cleaning: $229. Repair visits from $239. The repair number covers the diagnostic and the visit; the failed part and any extra labor are quoted in writing after we’ve tested the system, and you approve it before anything goes in. Thermocouple and pilot repairs are the cheap end. Valves, blowers and log sets cost more, and we’ll say so before we order anything.

Gas fireplace vs. wood fireplace: what breaks?
Gas units (most DFW homes built after 1990) fail in a few predictable places: a thermocouple or thermopile that’s worn out, a pilot assembly clogged with a summer of dust, a gas valve that sticks, an ignition module that clicks and quits, a wall switch or remote receiver that stopped talking to the unit, a blower that rattles. We test in order — pilot, thermocouple, valve, burner, ignition, venting — and tell you what actually failed.
Wood-burning fireplaces break differently. Prefab fireboxes crack their refractory panels. Masonry fireboxes lose mortar joints and firebrick. Dampers rust open or shut. And most of the damage starts at the top: a missing cap or a cracked crown letting rain down the flue for years. That’s why a wood fireplace repair usually starts with a sweep and inspection so we’re fixing the cause, not the symptom.
What’s included in a repair visit?
- Symptom call. Won’t light, won’t stay lit, soot, smell, silence — each points somewhere specific, and we’ll usually name the likely culprit on the phone.
- System diagnosis. Pilot, thermocouple, valve, burner, ignition and venting tested in sequence. For wood: firebox, damper, smoke chamber, flue, crown and cap.
- Written quote. The failed part, the fix and the price, approved before wrenches turn.
- Repair, leak check, flame test. Common parts ride on the truck. Every gas connection we touch gets tested before the panel goes back on.
- Photos and a walkthrough. What failed, what fixed it, how to keep it lighting.
Smell gas? Don’t call us first.
Don’t flip switches or light anything. Get everyone outside and call your gas utility’s emergency line or 911 from outside the house. Once the utility says the home is safe, call us and we’ll fix whatever caused it.
The venting gets checked too
A fireplace is one part of a system that runs to your rooftop. Because we’re a chimney crew first, the venting check other repair services skip is part of every visit — corroded flues, blocked vent caps, rusted chase covers. If the fix is a cap or chase cover, we can usually do it the same trip.

Frequently asked questions
How much does fireplace repair cost in Dallas–Fort Worth?
Gas fireplace inspection and cleaning is $229. A repair visit for a gas or wood fireplace starts at $239, with parts and any additional labor quoted in writing after diagnosis and before work starts.
My gas fireplace pilot won’t stay lit. What’s wrong?
Usually the thermocouple or thermopile — the small sensor the pilot flame heats to prove it’s burning. When it weakens the safety system shuts the gas off, exactly as designed. Quick, inexpensive repair.
It worked last winter. Why won’t it light now?
Eight idle months in a Texas house is how the pilot assembly and burner collect the dust and spider webs that block them. ‘Worked in March, dead in October’ is our most common gas fireplace call in DFW and one of the fastest to fix.
Is soot on the glass normal?
A light haze that wipes off, occasionally. Black buildup that comes back fast means incomplete combustion — misplaced logs, a dirty burner or an air-mix problem — and the same chemistry that makes soot makes carbon monoxide. Worth a visit.
What wood fireplace repairs do you handle?
Cracked or crumbling refractory panels in prefab fireboxes, dampers that won’t seat or won’t open, firebrick and mortar joints, smoke chamber problems, and the crown, cap and chase-cover work up top that’s letting water in. Masonry rebuilds are quoted after a look.
I smell gas. Should I call you?
Not first. Don’t flip switches or light anything. Get everyone outside and call your gas utility’s emergency line or 911 from outside the house. Once the utility says the home is safe, call us and we’ll repair whatever caused it.
Do you do gas log conversions?
Ask when you call. We’ll tell you plainly what fits your firebox and venting and what it would run.
