Why is my dryer taking two cycles?
Every load pushes lint into the duct. Airflow drops, dry times stretch, the dryer runs hotter, and the packed lint sits right next to the heat source. That’s the whole fire risk, and it’s the quietest appliance in the house. Other signs: the laundry room or dryer top hot to the touch, a burning or musty smell while it runs, a vent flap outside that barely moves, a vent warning on the dryer, or lint collecting around the hood.
Why North Texas dryer vents are worse than most
A lot of DFW two-story homes — Southlake, Keller, Frisco, most of what was built after 1995 — put the laundry room upstairs and vent the dryer through the roof. That’s a long vertical duct that traps lint at every elbow, and a roof jack whose screen clogs solid. Those are the runs that take two cycles a load, and the ones most often skipped by anyone who only cleans from inside. We do the roof.
DIY dryer vent cleaning vs. a professional
| Do it yourself | Texas Grill Clean, $229 | |
|---|---|---|
| Reach | Drill-brush kits handle the first 10–20 feet | Full run, dryer connection to wall hood or roof jack |
| Rooftop termination | Usually skipped | Cleared and confirmed open, photographed |
| Crushed or foil duct | Easy to pack lint tighter or puncture it | Flagged with a photo; repair quoted separately |
| Airflow check | None | Flapper and airflow checked before we leave |
What’s included in the $229?
- Look at the system. Transition duct, visible run, and the exterior termination — wall hood or roof jack.
- Clean the full length. Rotary brush and vacuum from the dryer connection to the outside.
- Check the outside. Hood, flapper and screen cleared and confirmed to open; we photograph it.
- Tell you what we saw. Crushed, disconnected or foil duct gets flagged with a photo and a recommendation.

Frequently asked questions
How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in Dallas–Fort Worth?
$229 flat for the full run from the dryer connection to the wall hood or roof termination. No per-foot or per-story surcharge.
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
Once a year for a typical family, sooner if dry times stretch or the vent hood outside stops moving. Long roof runs clog faster than short wall runs.
Do you clean rooftop dryer vents?
Yes. Roof terminations are normal scope in the $229 as long as the roof can be reached safely, and they’re the runs that need it most.
Will cleaning fix my dryer’s vent warning light?
A restricted duct is the usual cause but not the only one. If the light stays on after the run is clear, the problem is inside the appliance and we’ll tell you.
Do you clean inside the dryer?
We clean the exhaust path from the dryer connection out. Internal appliance cleaning is a job for an appliance tech.
Can animals get into a dryer vent?
Constantly. A warm hood with a stuck flapper is prime nesting space for birds in spring. If we find one, removal is $180–$560 and we fit a proper hood so it doesn’t repeat.
Can you do the chimney the same visit?
Yes — a chimney sweep is also $229, and most customers book both.
